Presentation Evening

A week on saturday sees our presentation evening, we look forward to a good night with Rock Solid being our entertainment.

Many of our members are going in fancy dress and a turnout of around 30 people is expected.

We hope its a good night for all who come.

Celebration of Success

Last night saw the Durham & District League Presentation evening where we went to support of Mixed pairs winners Barry and Sandra Hopkins.

It was a pleasant evening with a good turnout to end what has been a very enjoyable first season in this league for us.

First Win of Season

In the District League we managed our first win of the season with a 4-1 win at the Dene.

The Dene were understrength with Ken Lamb, Dave Hume and Les Walker missing but any understrength team normally beats us 5-0.

The day also saw its 1st win for Paul Kelly who bowled with Bill Morland and Baz Hopkins Jnr tonight.

RA Raise Complaint to District League

After out inability to play Darlington RA in the District League the club has asked the league for advice as we haven’t been able to field a team on 3 occasions. Their reluctance to play any games after the 7th of September is a real shame as we are doomed to relegation anyway and their push for the title also now seems doomed. - Oh Dear!! - lol

It is alleged that the Dene was also informed of our struggle to field a team for this Thursday despite our turning up to the RA with 14 players only a fortnight ago, It seems the RA are just afraid to play us.

Never mind - come on Spenny, we know your number one!!

Consolation Prize in Durham League

Despite dissappointment in not being promoted this year, we got the 2nd best in the news that Fishburn, our friends who have shown great hospitality this year winning the league. The good thing about this is Blackhall failed to win the league.

GET IN YOU BEAUTIES!!!!

Durham League Title Race Hots Up

With 3 games left to play its going to be close between 5 teams looking for promotion to the 2nd Division.
Fishburn are currently top with Blackhall 2nd and us 3rd followed by Witton Gilbert.

We need to at least win at Peterlee this week to keep in contention, we would have been top however if we hadn’t been disengaged 5 points for Blackhall who god bless them don’t like the rain!

Tough Fishburn Tie Tonight

Tonight sees the semi-final of the Durham Triples as Scott, Bill Morland and Bev Turnbull travel to Fishburn to play Jason Taylors rink from Leeholme.

A very tough tie, but if Scott Morland can get his finger out of his ar$e you never know what can be achieved!

Fun Day

Yesterday saw another successful open day for our club, with a reasonable turnout in the sunshine events started with a quick game of football on the bowls green. Many silky skills were shown especially from Ken Wood! - A few people had sore toes though after a while as the jack was the ball used!!!

After much competition the winners were - Bill Morland, Sandra Hopkins and Sue Harston.

Blackhall - a bit of a wet

Saturdays Durham League game was sensationally cancelled due to weather. We await a dispute with the management committee to see if we gain 5 or 10 points for the game.

After a heavy downpour Blackhall refused to play on classing the green as dangerous, our club disagreed, however Blackhall BC left and we await the leagues decision.

Until this is resolved we lie 4th in the Division 9 points behind the leaders with a BYE next week.

Hospital Cup Win

After another victory the only question that comes to mind is how?? - A poor performance by Scott Morland/Bill Morland and Sandra Hopkins saw them got to Fishburn and win 16-15. After playing on heavy green all week in other competitions this bendy rink turned out to be quite difficult.

Tonight sees another demoralising game at home to Shildon BR where again we may be playing short although hope Ryan Harbron will make his debut.
