Indoor Season Underway

The 1st weeks indoor bowling saw South Park hammer Barnard Castle and Mech-Tool lose heavily to Cummins A. However week 2 saw a change in fortunes.

Mech-Tool pulled off a great coup beating Hundens Ladies and South Park threw away an easy victory against Cummins B, they were 6 shots up going into the last end and amaxingly dropped an 8.

Never mind, its a long season but both teams need to find a consistency if they are going to beat Cummins A to the league title this season.

Parkside Ladies Look to Improve Next Year

The finishing table is below for the Parkside Ladies. Next year as South Park Ladies they are sure to do better with a more stable and happier team.

Lodge Ladies 37.5
Barnard Castle 34.5
Rothmans 32
Woodlands 25
Richmond 18
Middleton St George 14
Parkside Ladies 7

We look forward to having them as a part of our club and am sure they will go from strength to strength.

Final outdoor match finishes with a bang

The last game any of our members is to play outdoors took place last night in the Henderson Shield Final.

Scott Morland gave Barry Hopkins Jnr a gentle reminder that he isn’t David Bryant yet with a 21-7 drubbing.
Despite slaughtering Scott on 2 occasions already this season Scott ensured he took full control in this one with a 12-1 lead enventually conceding 7 shots in an attempted come back.

Luck did not play a factor in this game!

Only 20 Shots Decides the ‘BIG’ Match

Jonathan the Hand-ley gave Carl Bozeate a gentle stuffing in last nights grudge match at South Park. Despite Carl going in as favourite the bookies lost out with big odds as Jonathan turned on the style.

Spectators gathered from allover the place in this tense match, if only the same form could be produced on his unallocated cash!

Margaret Hunter

We welcome Margaret to the squad. She is very keen to play for us after recently moving to Darlington. She has dabbled at Crown Green before and has recently started getting coaching at the Darlington indoor. We look forward to bowling with her.

Pairs Final Decided On Luck

Scott Morland and Glyn Jones pulled off a flukey result beating Bill Morland and Barry Hopkons Jnr 13-12 in the club Pairs Final. For at least 13 out of the 15 ends played a mixture of Scotts outrageous luck and Bills lack of it allowed Scott and Glyn to take a lead. Bill and Barry did well to even compete with the sheer amount of flukes that were being pulled off, but in the end you can’t beat lucky b******s!

Bill and Sandra do it again

For the 2nd week running Bill Morland and Sandra Hopkins stole the glory in our club competitions.

Bill beat Barry Hopkins Jnr in the Centenary Shield Final and Sandra beat Scott Morland in the Turner Trophy Final.

Although it was a poor turnout of 6 people it still turned out to be a funday witht he league table of the first stages finished in the following order:-

Pts
W. Morland 8
B. Hopkins Jnr 8
S. Hopkins 6
S. Morland 6
S. Brodie 2
M. Best 0

David Neil

Dave is one of our most experienced bowlers. Although he has taken a year out of the team, if we can coax him into returning in the future he will be a great asset. He was a committee member of the club for around 15 to 20 years including a long spell as Secretary.

Peter Binney

Another one of our young promising superstars. We look forward to seeing how he progresses next year. He is one of many young players we now has that show promise is becoming quality players.

Beverley Turnbull

We are very lucky to have Bev join our club this year. After a long absence from the game she has come back and joined out club. She brings lots of experience and ability to a team that needs all the experience we can get for it to develop.
