2010 Season

Good day web folk. On Thurs 4th March 2010 we had our AGM and following this, happily we are able to confirm that we will have 3 teams, one in the Darlington And District League, one in the Sherwoods League, and one in the Durham And District League. Cameron Pairs 1st Round Victory

The cameron pairs rink of Barry Hopkins Senior and Junor won their first round against Paul Frazer and Terry Mieklejohn. It was a fairly comfortable match, and when they did pull it back to 3 behind, Barry and Barry managed a 4 to put some distance back between them.

This sets up a possible encounter with the other South Park father and son team of Scott and Bill Morland, if the Morlands can beat Mark Ralphs’ rink at the RA. Lets hope they do to set up this grudge match.

1st Round of Lord Lounger creates interest….

Scott Morland eat his Dad after being 17-9 down in the first round of the Lord Younger Town Singles.
Despite hanging on and dropping a bad four Bill couldn’t keep it going. Scott pulled back 11 shots in 5 ends and finally managed to scrape a 2 at 19 all.

Mixed Pairs Success

Last night saw a good victory for Barry Hopkins Jnr and Sandra Hopkins, beating Gary Cockerill and Chelsea Parnell in the National Mixed pairs. They led all the game and eventually won comfortably 26-9.

Unfortunately our EBA pairs team of Barry Hopkins and Bill Morland lost their district final to Andy Kirtland and Tony Bousfield. They were unable to pull off a victory and join our other team of Scott Morland and Glyn Jones in the county stages.

Its tough at the top

After a cracking fortnight of bowling we were left to admit defeat last night in 2 EBA District Finals.

Barry Hopkins crashed out of the Two Wood Singles as Andrew Kirtland got his revenge in a comprehensive defeat.

In the Triples Scott Morland/Andy Bell and John Smith caused problems for the Northam Family but unfortunately were pipped after being level at 15-15 going into the last end. This was still no mean feat against a very experienced rink. Our rink was 9-2 up then slumped by dropping a 5 and 2 3’s to go 15-9 down. Sadly there wasn’t enough left in the tank to finish off the game and complete the comeback.

More EBA Success

Barry Hopkins Jnr pulled off an amazing comeback against Craig Northam of the RA to get through to the county stages of the EBA Junior Singles. He was completely outbowled in the first part of the game, falling 15-3 behind, but eventually started winning some ends. He changed the length of the jack and pulled off a 21-17 victory.
