As the EBA County finals took place at Ashbrooke in Sunderland Richard Woodward impressed in the final of the Junior singles.
After destroying Martin Harrison in the semi-final he went on to out bowl David Andrews from Foggy Furze in Hartlepool. Unfortunately despite drawing better most of the game he lost in sudden death after 2 drawn sets.
He was laid for the match with one bowl left to come and David fired it clean off - the first head he had hit all day.
Never mind - it was an excellent achievement which has opened the eyes of county selectors for nomination next year.
