2010 Season

Good day web folk. On Thurs 4th March 2010 we had our AGM and following this, happily we are able to confirm that we will have 3 teams, one in the Darlington And District League, one in the Sherwoods League, and one in the Durham And District League. This is excellent news after a worrying winter.  May [...]

Success at last!

Finally we have a winning team in the EBAs.

Barry Hopkins Snr & Jnr along with John Smith managed to hammer Graham Peacock, Stuart Clarke and Ian Pearson in the triples. This was an excellent win of 25-10 putting them into the district final against Alan Coopers rink of Hundens.

Meanwhile Dave Neil & Scott Morland are going to take up dominoes after barely turning up in a 24-2 defeat against the Northams from the RA. They gave up after 14 ends as they were shocking!!

More national disappointment

More lousy results in this years EBA comps. We were beaten by Houghton Dairy Lane in the Double Fours despite being within 3 shots with 3 ends to go.

Scott Morland was beaten in his EBA Two Wood by Graham Peacock and Barry Hopkins Jnr was beaten in sudden death by Craig Northam of the RA.

We hope for better luck tonight when Scott Morland and Dave Neil meet the Northams again in the Pairs for the 2nd year running.

Clive upsets our club once again!

Clive Black of Darlington RA took out another one of our players, this time in the EBA Singles.

He beat Barry Hopkins 21-18 at the RA. This is now 4 out of 4 for Clive who seems to enjoy taking South Park players out of the competitions!

EBA Pairs

Well done to Scott Morland and David Neil who won their first round pairs against the Barnard Castle team 33-9.

We also wish Barry Hopkins good luck in his singles this morning against Clive Black at the RA.

B Team Victorious

Despite a calamity of events our Mech-Tool B Team hammered the A.

A delayed kick-off due to late arrivals caused many problems but eventually both sides had full teams which saw the debut of Ian Lidster in the B Team who despite being beaten had an excellent debut vary much helped with great thanks by George Fenley and John Beaumont.

Scott Morland with Peter Boyle and Sandra Hopkins had the only winning rink so it ended 3-1 to the B Team.

Big Local Match

Tonight is the big game, our A & B Teams meet. All player tonight play for pride – watch out for war!!

Tumped By RA

A disaster last night saw us lose 5-0 to the RA. Sadly it left us realising what a hard season we have ahead of us.

The RA players Andy Kirtland and Tony Bousfiled also knocked Barry Hopkins and Bill Morland out of the EBA Pairs on Wednesday night.

Mech-Tool Season disrupted by Horrid Weather

On a night of torrential rain Mech-Tool A Teams game was called off at the last minute leaving Barry Hopkins Jnr to play Bill Morland in the EBA Two Wood.

Depite Barry leading 20-17 he couldn’t manage to beat a resilient Bill.

Mech-Tool B got off to a reasonable start at the JUC Club, they only managed 1 point thanks to Jim Rodmell and Richard Woodward but as the team were 2 players short this was no disaster as the other 2 games were closely matched.

Scott Morland played his EBA Singles last night and was only beaten after a severe downpour disrupted his rhythm when leading 14-13. The only consolation was he didn’t break his neck after flying across the green on his backside delivering one of his last bowls on a flooded green!!

Open Day Success

Our Parks open day turned out to be a success with hundreds of people visiting the park we managed to make rinks including players from Rothmans/Parkside Ladies and ourselves.

As usual the Vets gave no support to the cause. They had 2 representatives walking around with the mayor taking all the prestige but carried out none of the hard work that the ladies and ourselves had to to make the day possible.

The winners of the goblets were Geoff Moore and Richard Woodward who were top rink beating Scott Morland and Andrew Bell.

EBA Fixtures

A note to wish Barry Hopkins Jnr & Billy Morland luck in EBA Two Wood on Tuesday and also Bill in the EBA Fours against John Hills at the RA on Wednesday.

Scott Morland also plays his EBA Four Wood this Friday away to Steve Northam of the RA.
