2010 Season

Good day web folk. On Thurs 4th March 2010 we had our AGM and following this, happily we are able to confirm that we will have 3 teams, one in the Darlington And District League, one in the Sherwoods League, and one in the Durham And District League. This is excellent news after a worrying winter.  May [...]

Club of the Year….

Unfortunately we didn’t make the top 2 in this years competition.

Tony Allcock rang to confirm that we have not made it this year but its still an achievement to have got this far.

Well done to all and we shall have another go next year!!

Distict League Meeting Update….

Just to let you all know that we still don’t know if we have won the league.

The League secretary is adamant that we haven’t and is to check all scorecards to confirm our position. We will hear in due course.

Otherwise no changes or proposals were accepted last night leaving things as they were and us to be in the 1st Division next year.

Stickers…

Just a quick note to all members, our new stickers have arrived.

They include the website address and the locomotive on the bias. If anyone would like a set please get in touch.

Also the trophies and honours board should all be updated next week in which the relevant people will receive trophies.

Tribute…

We pay tribute this week to Terry Blows.

Last week we heard the sad news that a loyal member of our club had passed away. We remember him as a good bowler, hard worker as secretary and treasurer for many years and most of all a good friend and bowls colleague.

Our thoughts are with his family in which we send our sincere condolences.

Confirmation….

After long awaited confirmation that we have won the league we have received the final league table.

Guess what?? – Its incorrect, the table shows us with the most points yet we are 2nd on the table.

The league table on this site is what we believe is correct and I am sure this mistake has been picked up.

We collect our trophy next week (Wednesday 26th October) where also the AGM for the district league will be held. All of you are welcome to attend and it will start at 7.15pm at Woodland Bowling Club.

We are also talking about entering a team indoor (triples) which will be Saturday 12.00pm. Please let me know if you would like to take part.

End of the season update….

As you all know it is now the end of the season, sadly followed by the drudgery of the indoor game.

Disappointingly we have still received no confirmation from the District league confirming our league win and also no response as yet of the criteria we need to cover to have our club used as a County green.

There is a Durham County EBA District 8 meeting tonight at 7.00pm in Morrisons where hopefully our questions will be answered. All members are welcome to join us for support in this meeting.

Fingers crossed everyone as we may hear out about the results of the EBA Club of the Year competition this week. Although we have been successful to reach the top 5 in the country it would be nice to go all the way.
